Rome is true for us all and dissimilar to each of us
Move over, Marcel...
Yes, I know, I sent you a newsletter only yesterday, but I have a special announcement to make: coming soon on Puntarelle: life in Rome… THE PUNTARELLE QUESTIONNAIRE!
What’s that? It will be a series of interviews to people of Rome (which is short for “people of Rome that I like”, of course), in the format of a questionnaire on the blueprint of the Proust Questionnaire.
I originally intended to call the series “Contemporary Romans” (as opposed to Ancient Romans… oh… wait a sec… I think I've just come up with another idea…), but then one of the designated interviewees made a movie called À la recherche (world premiere on 24th October at Festa del Cinema di Roma, and in cinemas in Italy from November 2nd), and so THE PUNTARELLE QUESTIONNAIRE it is!
Questions to these people will mainly focus on their relationship with the Eternal City, of course, but not only that. Given that the majority of the readers of this newsletter is not Italian, and, understandably, mostly know only famous Romans from the past, this will be a chance for readers — for you — to get to know beautiful contemporary Romans, be they such by birth or by choice, because Rome can be a mother, a stepmother sometimes, more often than not she's a grumpy nonna, but in the end, if you show her just a little love, she welcomes everyone.
Stay with us!
I can’t wait! We’ll be in Rome at the end of the year so I’m eager for this insider peek at the city.
